It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Pesaro.〔(''Catholic Hierarchy'' page )〕 ==History== Saint Paternian is venerated as the first Bishop of Fano and is supposed to have been appointed by Pope Sylvester I. St. Vitalis flourished in the time of Pope Symmachus (498-514). Eusebius accompanied Pope John I to Constantinople (526). Leo and St. Fortunatus belong to the period of Gregory the Great. The date of St. Orsus is uncertain.
